BACK TO THE PROG

Some fine words about Desolate from Sweden Prog:

BACK TO THE PROG
Having spent many years spreading the electro-blues gospel with Dead Soul, Anders Landelius now returns to his first love: Progressive rock.
The Desolate EP is the first release from his new project/
band The Blank Page.

The sole track on the EP is a thirteen minute epic true to the roots of classic prog rock. Desoltate echoes of early King Crimson, Genesis, Yes, UK and Marillion without ever losing it’s musical originality.
The production is excellent, clear and dynamic, putting the music very nicely into 2017. Anders Landelius is an excellent vocalist with a deep, highly emotional and dramatic voice. At times reminiscent of a young Greg Lake or John Wetton. The band does an amazing job at bringing out the beautiful nuances, dynamics and rhythmic quirks of the track.
Anders Landelius, who also handles keyboards is joined by Ludvig Kennberg on drums (who played on Ghost’s Meliora album), guitarist and co-producer Johan Rapp (of Rudyard) and virtuoso bass player Nicklas Brännström. Backing vocals are provided by Fia Kempe of The Great Discord with additional keyboards by Niels Nielsen.

Desolate is highly recommended for all fans of symphonic progressive rock, classic and modern. It’s a beautiful composition and it makes me eagerly longing for a full length album.
